5.19

raterautsukyabhedābhisaṃbandhaḥ pratīyate /
svaśabdastu spṛheti /
evamayaṃ ratyātmako bhāvo vātsalyasvabhāvaścaturbhiranubhāvādibhiratrāvagamitaḥ /
anyeṣvapi bhāveṣvevamudāhāryam /

an association of love with a specific kind of longing is perceived. / And the word itself is ‘longing’ (spṛhā). / In this way, this emotion consisting of love, having the nature of parental affection, is here made known by all four [means], beginning with the consequents. / In other emotions as well, exemplifications are to be given in this same manner.
