Where a single thing, having been heard, causes recollection of or gives direct experience of another thing, there is the ornament named poetic reason (kāvyaliṅga). / Unlike the logical reasons well-known to dialecticians, which bring about distastefulness when composed with reference to worldly matters because they contain the tracing of presence in the subject and positive and negative concomitance, the poetic reason does not do so, because it is composed as abiding in an object that is excessively full of relish, striking a chord in the heart of all people. / Therefore, the word "poetic" is employed in "poetic reason." / It is certainly not a reason of the treatises of logic, but rather a poetic reason: this is conveyed by the inclusion of the word "poetic."
