asvaraḥ kṛṣṇapakṣeśaḥ śuklapakṣeśa isvaraḥ ||
pakṣātmikāntare bhuktirmāsabhukyardhamānataḥ ||
The sound 'a' is the lord of the dark fortnight; the sound 'i' is the lord of the bright fortnight; / the elapsed span within the fortnight is measured as half of the monthly elapsed span.
