聞如是：

Thus have I heard:

Thus I have heard: One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī.

一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。

At one time the Buddha was staying in Śrāvastī, at the Jeta Grove, in Anāthapiṇḍada's park.

2.6.4

爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「當修行一法，當廣布一法；便成神通，除諸亂想，獲沙門果，自致涅槃。云何為一法？所謂念天。當善修行，當廣演布，便成神通，除去諸想，獲沙門果，自致涅槃。是故，諸比丘！當修行一法，當廣布一法。如是，諸比丘！當作是學。」

At that time the Bhagavat said to the bhikṣus: "You should cultivate one Dharma; you should widely propagate one Dharma. Then you will accomplish supernatural powers, dispel all confused thoughts, obtain the fruit of asceticism, and arrive at nirvāṇa on your own. What is this one Dharma? It is recollection of the devas. You should cultivate it well, and you should expound and propagate it widely; then you will accomplish supernatural powers, dispel all thoughts, obtain the fruit of asceticism, and arrive at nirvāṇa on your own. Therefore, bhikṣus, you should cultivate one Dharma; you should widely propagate one Dharma. Thus, bhikṣus, should you train."

It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “One should cultivate one thing and disseminate one thing. Then, they will achieve spiritual knowledge, dispel their confused ideas, win the fruits of the ascetic, and bring about nirvāṇa themselves. What’s that one thing? It’s called recollecting the gods. One should cultivate and widely disseminate it. Then, they will achieve spiritual knowledge, dispel their confused ideas, win the fruits of the ascetic, and bring about nirvāṇa themselves.

“Therefore, monks, you should cultivate this one thing and widely disseminate this one thing. Thus, monks, should you train.”

2.6.5

爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。

Then the bhikṣus, hearing what the Buddha said, rejoiced and put it into practice.

When the monks heard what the Buddha taught, they rejoiced and approved.
