Thus have I heard:
154.3
At one time, the Buddha was staying in the Jetavana Anāthapiṇḍadārāma at Śrāvastī.
154.4
At that time, the Bhagavat said to the bhikṣus: "Through the existence of what, on the arising of what, clinging to what, viewing what as self, do sentient beings hold such a view and speak such words: 'There is no giving, no sacrifice, no oblation; there is no karmic fruition of good or bad destinies; there is no this world, no other world; there is no mother, no father, no [spontaneously born] sentient beings; there are no Arhats in the world rightly attained and rightly faring, who, regarding this world and the other world, having personally known and realized it for themselves in this present life, fully abide, declaring: "My births are exhausted, the brahmacarya is established, what was to be done has been done, I know for myself there will be no further becoming"'?"
154.5
The bhikṣus said to the Buddha: "The Bhagavat is the root of phenomena, the eye of phenomena, the refuge of phenomena..." Thus it is expounded in full, in sequence as in the previous three sūtras.
