> Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva further wished to expound: "A bodhisattva has four methods of embracing. What are the four? First, the bodhisattva practices the six pāramitās while concurrently transforming people and rescuing all; second, generating a mind of love and compassion to nurture the multitude of beings; third, benefiting oneself and benefiting others, aiding both the other and oneself; fourth, toward those with illness and suffering, having a mind of pity like looking upon an infant child. Such are the four methods of embracing with which a bodhisattva embraces sentient beings, and such are the wondrous and good merits by which a bodhisattva extensively benefits sentient beings and takes in a pure land."
