Regarding what has been transgressed from the previous year up to the present—whether greedy lust, anger, or folly—today all should speak of their transgressed offenses, bearing with one another's folly, and must not conceal them. If an offender within the assembly, out of deceit, then utters false speech, he falls into the offense of not desisting, thereby slighting the precepts and destroying himself. The bhikṣu who committed lust was named Kālodāyin; the bhikṣu who committed murder was named Kālu; the bhikṣu who committed theft was named Kāluphala; the bhikṣu who committed false speech was named Kāphala: they were all in the land of Śrāvastī.
