- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.66](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.156.3.66)

> The Buddha told Ānanda: “At that time, because of a single harsh word rebuking an elder (sthavira), for five hundred lifetimes the Tripiṭaka bhikṣu constantly took the body of a dog.” When the entire great assembly heard the Buddha preach the Dharma, they were all astonished and trembled with fear, together crying out: “How strange! How strange! In the world, no poisonous misfortune surpasses the mouth!”
