- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.31](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1645.2.31)

> The four immeasurables are loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity. Among the four, the first two have non-hatred as their essence; sympathetic joy is the feeling of joy; equanimity is non-greed. Their intentional objects are the hatred and malice, as well as the delight, desire, greed, and hostility of sentient beings in the desire realm, serving as antidotes respectively.
