> The commentary states: These three lines refer to the fifth \[result\], which is correctly gathering the successively superior causes in order to bring the dharmakāya to perfection and completion. The tenth bhūmi is called "perfection," and the Buddha-ground is called "completion"; the causes that induce this are the most excellent, and are called the "superior causes." This is precisely the meaning of the purity of peace and ease in the three karmas here. Exactly because in the preceding stages the mind is well at peace and ease, with the two karmas of speech and body assisting this peace and ease, the dharmakāya in successive stages is brought to perfection and completion. If the three karmas were impure and oppressive afflictions became manifest, there would be no peace and ease, and there would be no way for the dharmakāya in successive stages to be completed. The above ten lines clarify the pure lines of meaning of the bodhisattva's fruits of cultivation, so as to reveal all lines of meaning of a bodhisattva. The "purity" here refers to purity through leaving behind faults if it concerns defilements, or purity through cultivation if it concerns wholesome \[dharmas\]. This is because a bodhisattva's lines of meaning do not depart from this. They are partially attained before the bhūmis and genuinely realized on the bhūmis; therefore the increase of strength occurs on the stages prior to the bhūmis.
