> According to Asaṅga, from the sūtra's words 'great thousand world' onward, this passage corresponds to the tenth among the eighteen distinctions: the practice associated with the contemplation that eliminates grasping after a physical body and a sentient being's body. This is also the sixth among the \[nine\] ādhāras that are free from obstacles: for the sake of eliminating lack of skillfulness in mastery over mental images and marks. Thus the meaning here is: Sentient beings lack skillfulness in grasping after physical bodies and nominal bodies, and therefore formulate a conception of a single composite whole. Now expedient means are aroused to shatter this conception of a single composite whole; hence this text appears.
