- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.269](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1700.1.269)

> The Commentary states: Vasubandhu says that from here below the reasons are explained, within which there are four parts: first, weeping with sorrow upon hearing the Dharma after lamenting the renunciation of suffering bodies; second, from 'Bhagavat, if, moreover' onward, clarifying that generating faith in this produces the true mark; third, from 'Bhagavat, this true mark' onward, sweeping away doubts and eliminating faults; fourth, from 'Bhagavat, now that I have heard' onward, advancing and arousing faithful mind. This is the first. It means that Subhūti, hearing the teaching of relinquishing the body and enduring suffering, and hearing this sūtra's profound meaning which can attain bodhi, rejoiced and sighed in self-expression, and therefore wept with sorrow.
