- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [4.23](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1702.4.23)

> Regarding "ghosts encompass both womb-born and transformationally born": this is the next broader. That is: terrestrial rākṣasas and Hārītī are both womb-born. Thus a ghost mother said to Maudgalyāyana: "In the daytime and nighttime portions, I give birth to five hundred sons each; as soon as they are born, I eat them myself, and though I finish them, I am not sated." Therefore we know there are womb-born ghosts. The rest are all transformationally born.
