- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.174](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1703.1.174)

> Sages obtain their name by unconditioned suchness; yet the essence of suchness pervades all times and pervades all places. Why then are there sentient beings who attain it and those who do not attain it? It is simply due to the difference between the mind abiding in dharmas and not abiding in dharmas. "Abiding" means clinging and grasping. If, when practicing giving, one does not understand the threefold emptiness of the wheel, this is called abiding in dharmas; once the mind abides in dharmas, it does not accomplish dānapāramitā, like entering darkness where nothing is seen. If one understands the threefold emptiness of the wheel, then the mind has no abiding, immediately accomplishing dānapāramitā, like a person with eyes seeing all forms in the sunlight.
