> "In the morning" refers to the hours of yin, mao, and chen; "at midday" refers to the hours of si, wu, and wei; "in the evening" refers to the hours of shen, you, and xu. To thus abandon immeasurable bodies during the three periods of a single day, practicing giving across immeasurable kalpas—such a thing certainly does not exist in the world. Yet the Buddha sets forth this metaphor to illustrate how the blessing and virtue of hearing the sūtra and generating faith surpasses it—how much more so for one who copies, upholds, recites, and explains it?
