- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [1.251](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1703.1.251)

> Since it was already said that this dharma is equal and without higher or lower, how could the Tathāgata nevertheless deliver sentient beings? Hence the verse says: "In the equal true dharmadhātu, / the Buddha does not deliver sentient beings; / because names together with those skandhas / are not separate from the dharmadhātu." "Names" are the provisional designations of sentient beings; "skandhas" are the real dharmas of the five skandhas. These provisional designations and real dharmas are both identical with the dharmadhātu; hence it is said that they are "not separate from the dharmadhātu." Since they are identical with the dharmadhātu, ordinary person and noble one are one suchness; how could there be sentient beings who can be delivered? Hence it is said that the Buddha does not deliver sentient beings.
