問：仁義云何？答：以字論義，理則易明。上一表天德，下一表地德，立人表人德。聖主道侔造化、德合三才，故曰仁王也。

> Question: What is the meaning of benevolence (仁)? Answer: If we analyze the meaning from the character itself, the principle is easily clarified. The upper stroke represents the virtue of Heaven; the lower stroke represents the virtue of Earth; and the human radical represents the virtue of Man. The sage ruler's Way matches creation and transformation, and his virtue joins the Three Powers; therefore, he is called a benevolent king.
