> As for the conventional designation of relativity, there are two kinds: it is called particular relativity and also general relativity. Such as long and short, old and young, good and bad—these are called particular relativity, like long depending on not-long. All the myriad things are indeterminate; beyond not-long, it depends on whatever thing follows, so it is said to be indeterminate, and is also called general relativity. The conventional designation of conditioning is precisely the conventional designation of causal composition: the four subtle sense-data form the four great elements, the four great elements form the five faculties, and the five faculties form sentient beings; hence it is conditioned. When the text mentions "five colors," it is said that the five faculties are the five colors, and it is also said that blue, yellow, red, white, and variegated colors are the five colors. The text states "simultaneous causes and effects": the present five fruits and three causes are called simultaneous causes and effects. "Non-simultaneous causes and effects": the past two causes viewed in relation to the present five fruits are called non-simultaneous. Alternatively: a simultaneous cause is a conditioning cause (pratyaya-hetu), while a non-simultaneous cause is a generative cause (janaka-hetu). In terms of external dharmas, beams and rafters forming a house is simultaneous, while twelve hours forming a day is non-simultaneous cause and effect.
