> From "At that time, the great assembly" onward is the third \[section\], clarifying that the great assembly heard the Dharma and obtained benefits. The prose has three parts: first, clarifying that the various devas and humans obtained benefit; from "down to" onward is the second, the three destinies obtaining benefit; from "three births" onward is the third, the different lengths of time in attaining the path and the slowness or quickness of obtaining benefit. First, it clarifies that the deva kings attained the patience of non-arising. Taken distinctively, from the seventh ground upward it is called the patience of non-arising; taken generally, from the first ground upward it is called the patience of non-arising. As for the beings of the three destinies obtaining benefit: non-arising applies generally above and below. The "three destinies" are the three destinies of humans, devas, and spirits; they are not the three evil paths, because the three evil paths are incapable and do not receive the path. As for the "eight classes": below the dwelling of the Four Heavenly Kings there are four asura kings: first, Rāhu Asura King; second, Vemacitrin Asura King; third, Bali Asura King; fourth, Vairocana Asura King. Beneath Mount Sumeru there are further four great asuras: first, Kongnu; second, Fulumo; third, Poluohe; fourth, Doumoulou; hence they are called the eight classes of asuras. This is from the Sanzang ji. From "three births" onward, the third part clarifies the duration of entering the path, containing four phrases: three births, four births, five births, ten births. Their experiences differ, and the durations vary; after hearing the Dharma, they further pass through three, four, or more births to gain entry. As for the so-called "correct status," it has two meanings: first, the correct status of the emptiness of persons—from the ten understandings upward one attains the emptiness of persons; second, the correct status of the emptiness of dharmas—from the first ground upward one attains the correct status of non-arising.
