> Commentary: Eighth, the assembly of the six desire heavens. The text divides into two: first, specifying their number and identifying their categories; later, individually praising their virtues. This is the first. Regarding the six desire heavens, fascicle thirty-one of the Nyāyānusāra says: 'The Heaven of the Four Great Kings means that there are four great kings and their retinue, or that the heavenly hosts serve the four great kings, being ruled by the four great kings. Second, the Heaven of the Thirty-Three means that heavenly place; it is the residence of the devas of the thirty-three groups. Third, the Yāma Heaven means that heavenly place where they frequently exclaim: "How delightful!" The Yogācārabhūmi calls it the Time-Division Heaven, which is the same as this. Fourth, the Tuṣita Heaven: in that heavenly place they mostly feel contentment with what they have received. Fifth, the Heaven of Delighting in Transformations means that in that heavenly place they delight in repeatedly transforming objects of desire, experiencing pleasure therein. Sixth, the Heaven of Mastery over Transformations by Others means that in that heavenly place they freely experience pleasure in objects of desire transformed by others.' The Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa says: 'Because they transform the five sense-objects themselves to entertain themselves, it is called the Heaven of Delighting in One's Own Transformations. Because they take what others have transformed to entertain themselves, it is called the Heaven of Mastery over Transformations by Others (the first four heavens are listed by name without explanation).'
