- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [3.233](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1708.3.233)

> Explanation: Second, the expedient means of universal learning. According to the Original Commentary: 'Within the conventional there is the real, which is non-realization; within the real there is the conventional, which is not non-realization.' Some say: Among the five vehicles, because one does not seize upon humans, gods, and the two vehicles, it is 'non-realization'; because there is the Great Vehicle, it is 'not non-realization.' As in the \*Tattvasiddhi-śāstra\*, one extensively studies various non-Buddhist treatises and universally understands the sage's intention. Also, the \*Bodhisattvabhūmi\* \[says\] that one universally studies the treatises on the five sciences and so forth, without discriminating realization and non-realization. Although it is neither realization nor non-realization, one is able to learn all phenomena. Some versions that read 'learning all' are in error.
