> Exposition: Upon first hearing the Buddha's words, their joy and leaping knew no bounds; with one mind and utmost sincerity, they looked up and praised him. Because their looking up and praising was of the utmost degree, they repeated: "Excellent, excellent!" Furthermore, the first "excellent" praises the virtue of his mind toward others; the next "excellent" praises the depth of the compassion he aroused. When the Three Jewels are uninterrupted, there are no seven calamities; therefore they repeated the two words "excellent." Next is the second \[section\]: scattering flowers that form a canopy.
