> The commentary explains: Not only are the three realms and the three vehicles existent through dependent origination within saṃvṛti-satya, but the defiled views of non-Buddhists are also imputed and grasped as existent. Regarding the 'sixty-two views', according to the Bhadrakalpika Sūtra, they mean imputing a self and what belongs to a self regarding the five aggregates: saying that form is the self, the self possesses form, form belongs to the self, and the self dwells within form. The first phrase is the self; the three phrases are what belongs to the self. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness—the four phrases are also like this. Four times five is twenty, making twenty phrases. Five phrases are the self, and the rest are what belongs to the self. These phrases above are based on the present aggregates. With regard to the past and future worlds, there are also twenty each, making sixty phrases. Adding the views of annihilation and permanence makes sixty-two. As the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā, the Sūtra of the Brahma's Net of Sixty-Two Views, the tenth chapter, 'Brahmajāla', of the Dīrghāgama, the 199th fascicle of the Mahāvibhāṣā, the 58th and 87th fascicles of the Yogācāra, the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa, and the Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi all explain the various views; those who do not weary of the Dharma and take delight in it may narrate them. From here, second, it concludes generally that they are not real.
