> Question: Existence and non-existence contradict each other; how can both be for benefit and joy? Answer: Sentient beings fundamentally have differences in disposition. If some hear of non-existence, fearing they may fall into that category, the Buddha speaks to them of non-existence to make them quickly seek liberation. If some hear of existence, they quickly arise and strive forward; the Buddha speaks to them of existence to keep them from falling back. Therefore, all that the Buddha expounds is the wheel of the Dharma; speaking of existence and speaking of non-existence are profoundly for benefit and joy. Furthermore, according to the Awakening of Faith, because of delusion regarding original enlightenment, unenlightenment arises; when original \[enlightenment\] is illuminated and one returns to the source, there is none who does not become a buddha.
