> By virtue of these two lines, the sūtra speaks thus: 'Form is empty by its own nature; it is not empty through the destruction of form.' The proponent of conforming \[teaching\] says: 'If, according to paramārtha-satya, all phenomena are completely empty and nonexistent, this may initially seem acceptable, but logically it is not necessarily so. Ultimate and conventional mutually delineate one another: when the conventional is absent, the ultimate is destroyed. Form and emptiness are mutually dependent: when form is destroyed, emptiness perishes. Hence the substance of form is not originally empty.' The proponent of supreme emptiness says: 'In reality, this emptiness is neither empty nor non-empty; inverting delusion and confronting form, awakening speaks of form being empty. It is not that this word "emptiness" is definitively empty, because emptiness is also empty.'
