> First, explaining the name. In the past, it was said that the Sanskrit sound was called nirvāṇa, or nihuan, translated in this land as tranquil cessation. The Tripiṭaka Master of the Great Tang said parinirvāṇa, translated here as perfect tranquility: because of ultimately leaving hindrances and the noisy agitation of samsara, it is called perfect tranquility; wishing to preserve the old \[rendering\], it is called nirvāṇa.
