- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [2.23](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1713.2.23)

> Under 'second, with respect to dharmas' is, secondly, explaining with respect to dharmas, which has two: first, explaining the specifics. 'This means' and so forth means: a pearl manifests blue and yellow, yet the pearl does not arise; blue and yellow suddenly vanish, yet the pearl does not cease. 'Moreover, following' and so forth: like flowers \[manifesting in\] the sky, the sky does not produce flowers; when the flowers depart and the sky is clear, the sky does not add purity. 'Obstacles being exhausted' and so forth: when defilements are exhausted and their antidotes eliminated, there are no defilements to be counteracted; what could be decreased? 'Virtues do not increase': herein there is no cultivation and no achievement; how could they increase?
