> A questioner asks: "Since you say the Buddha is on the ground of the Dharma body, why do you say that internal ordinary persons and others surround him?" An interpreter replies: "This sūtra's explanation of the Dharma body is unlike the Dharma body explained in the sūtras of eternal abiding. What this sūtra now calls the Dharma body refers to the response body in another realm as the Dharma body. Thus, when the Buddha is in the land of Immeasurable Life (Amitāyus), the capacity of sentient beings in this world evokes Immeasurable Life to come in response, and yet they designate the Buddha of Immeasurable Life as the Dharma body."
