This sūtra clarifies the primordial beginning when the Buddha established the teachings, skillfully sowing for sentient beings the seeds of the sudden, the gradual, the indeterminate, and the manifest-and-secret; in the middle, by means of the five flavors of the sudden and gradual, he tamed and nurtured them to maturity; and furthermore, by means of the five flavors of the sudden and gradual, he delivered them.
