> If killed by an evil companion, one falls into hell; if killed by an evil elephant, one does not fall into hell. Now, in the perfect teaching, the physical body within a single lifetime has the principle of leaping to ascend to the tenth ground; in this case afflictions are already shattered and there is no karma for hell, yet one still possesses a physical body and is not exempt from fierce beasts. In the physical body of the other teachings, within a single lifetime one does not ascend to the tenth ground, but merely forms an interpretive understanding through practice, taking afflictions to be tigers and wolves. For one who forms interpretive understanding through practice, it is coherent in principle, but does not apply in concrete phenomena (and so on).
