> Outside the assembly of the three vehicles there are no separate pratyekabuddhas; this explanation is still precepts relative to coarseness. Opening the coarse: a student of the vinaya is precisely a śikṣā of Mahāyāna study. The śikṣā is precisely the light of the supreme truth of the Great Vehicle, neither blue, nor yellow, nor red, nor white; the three refuges, the five precepts, the ten good deeds, and the two hundred and fifty \[precepts\] are all the Mahāyāna. How could there be coarse precepts separated from subtle precepts! Since the precepts are identical to the subtle, persons are also like this. 'You are truly my sons' expresses precisely this meaning. This is called the subtle precepts of absolute incomparability.
