> "The Lotus, for the sake of the people in the Buddha's lifetime, broke the provisional and led them to enter the real, so that there was no longer anything coarse, and the intention of the teaching was entirely complete. The Nirvāṇa, for the sake of ordinary beings of the degenerate age whose illness of view and thought afflictions is severe, who rigidly cling to the one real \[truth\] and slander provisional expedients, who, though drinking the nectar, cannot realize the real through concrete matters and harm their lives, dying prematurely—therefore, it supports discipline, concentration, and wisdom, to reveal the Great Nirvāṇa. Those who grasp the intention of the Lotus do not rely on sequential practice with respect to the Nirvāṇa."
