> As for the differences in the section of the traces: in the Tripiṭaka, the intention of the four siddhāntas in refuting and abolishing is also used, but only for nirvāṇa with remainder and nirvāṇa without remainder (and so forth). In the shared prajñā of the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā, the intention of the four siddhāntas in refuting, establishing, and abolishing is also used, but it only awakens to the true principle, unable to be long-lasting and complete (and so forth). In the Vaipulya teachings, they also refute the three and reveal the One; with respect to bodhisattvas, there is a portion of sameness, but persons of the two vehicles are unable to enter reality; thus the ten disciples were rebuked by Vimalakīrti for falling into the eight heterodoxies and not entering the count of the saṃgha—these are words of refutation and rebuke. Praising the path of the inconceivable Mahāyāna all relies on the intention of the four siddhāntas, yet the two vehicles did not awaken. This sūtra employs the intention of the four siddhāntas so that the two vehicles are able to sever doubts, eliminate attachments, enter the correct path of the Buddha, and receive vyākaraṇa to become Buddhas. Therefore, know that this sūtra's use of the four siddhāntas is subtle and wonderful. The text says: "His words are gentle and soft, pleasing the hearts of the multitude." Śāriputra understood and said: "The Buddha, with various causes and conditions, parables, and skillful words, his mind peaceful as the ocean; hearing him, my net of doubts was severed... resting peacefully in real wisdom." This is the meaning.
