### [9.31](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1716.9.31)

> Second, generating the true and correct mind: All sentient beings are themselves the great nirvāṇa; why be inverted, taking suffering as happiness? Thereupon one arouses great compassion, giving rise to two vows: to cause those not yet crossed over to cross over, and to cause those who have not yet severed to sever. All afflictions are themselves bodhi; why be ignorant and dark, taking the non-path as the path? Thereupon one arouses great loving-kindness, giving rise to two vows: to cause those who do not yet know to know, and those who have not yet attained to attain. Through unconditioned loving-kindness and compassion, pure vows, and the power of the roots of goodness of loving-kindness, one spontaneously embraces all sentient beings.
