- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [9.16](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1718.9.16)

> From "Mañjuśrī, just as the wheel-turning king..." below is the simile of giving the pearl. This also has two: 1. Having great merit; 2. Giving the pearl. "The bright pearl": "bright" illustrates the wisdom of the Middle Way, and "round" illustrates permanence. "On the crown" refers to that which is revered at the ultimate fruit. "In the topknot" means the real is concealed by the expedient; untying the topknot is opening the expedient, and giving the pearl is revealing the real. The application also has two: "Can cause one to reach all-knowledge": knowledge is the name of the fruit, which is the oneness of practice. "The foremost teaching" is the oneness of teaching. "Secret treasury" is the oneness of principle, which also encompasses the oneness of persons.
