### [9.27](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1718.9.27)

> Regarding the first, the offering of the three karmic activities: fifty minor kalpas passed in the sūtra, yet they were perceived as half a day; the fourfold assembly saw them everywhere. This was concealing the long and displaying the short, borrowing his supernatural power to make the narrow appear broad; both are inconceivable. 'Bowing and circumambulating' is the body; 'praising the Dharma' is speech; 'gazing reverently' is the mind. The 'fifty minor kalpas' and the 'half a day'—this is the inconceivability of time. What the Tathāgata sees is not of two marks: the bodhisattvas from below constantly praise him face to face, and the Tathāgata silently and constantly receives their praise. Those who understand realize the long in the short, considering it fifty minor kalpas; those who are confused realize the short in the long, considering it like half a day. This serves as an overture for origin and traces. Before the Tathāgata spoke, they were dark to the origin and clung to the traces; if the Buddha opens and reveals it, they awaken to the near and reach the distant, also knowing the inconceivable oneness. The fourfold assembly universally seeing the bodhisattvas is also inconceivable. Now, what is seen by the fleshy eye and the divine eye is not far, yet what they now behold fills the sky: seeing torrential rain, one knows the dragon is great; seeing flourishing flowers, one knows the pond is deep; seeing the response bodies fill the sky, one then knows the true body fills the entire Dharma realm. First, distinguishing the four leaders.
