> Next, from 'although it is' downward explains the word 'although' in reverse. Therein, it first generally explains the general idea, and next specifically explains the gate of the objective realm. Regarding the first passage: the elder had previously already attained exit safely and peacefully; although peaceful, he was alarmed; although exited, he had to enter. Only then is it known that the Tathāgata constantly abides in great compassion, peacefully dwelling in nirvāṇa without departing from the three realms; therefore, attaining exit safely and peacefully is used to explain the alarm and terror. Seeing that the children had great resolve was like having long attained peace and safety; because they retreated and fell into suffering, he further gave rise to small compassion, as if initially alarmed and terrified; since peace and safety did not last long, it is called 'although'. From 'Yet sentient beings' downward explains the reason for alarm and terror: because they were not yet in the same peace and safety as their father. From 'The Tathāgata' downward clarifies the reason for entering the fire: because of small compassion. The children having already fallen into suffering, peace and safety are explained from the locus of the children's suffering; hence it says 'not being affected by the eight sufferings, the four inversions', and so forth. Therefore, although the term 'buddha-wisdom' pervades the fundamental and real, it provisionally separates the provisional traces to serve as the correct teaching; hence the subsequent explanation of the gate is explained from the perspective of expressing the Small.
