> Answer: The four siddhāntas subsume the twelve divisions of scripture and the eighty thousand treasuries of Dharma. The first three siddhāntas can still be broken and destroyed; the ultimate-truth siddhānta cannot be broken or destroyed. It is supreme and unsurpassable. This sūtra specifically clarifies the ultimate-truth siddhānta, hence it is said: "Therefore, to teach the ultimate-truth siddhānta, he delivered this sūtra." Thus we know that the Prajñāpāramitā abundantly clarifies the true mark, verifying the first point, the greatness of the objective realm. It also says: "The first three siddhāntas all return to the ultimate truth"; thus we know that the eighty thousand treasuries of Dharma are for revealing the ultimate truth. Since the Prajñāpāramitā specifically clarifies the ultimate truth, it subsumes the eighty thousand treasuries of Dharma; therefore we know it is the greatest. Second, Nāgārjuna opened ninety chapters to clarify the two wisdoms: sixty-six chapters clarify real wisdom, and from the "Chapter on the Inexhaustible" through the end of the scripture, he analyzes expedient wisdom. These two wisdoms are the mother and father of the dharmakāya of the buddhas of the ten directions and the three periods of time. As the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa says: "The perfection of wisdom is the mother of the bodhisattva, and skillful means is the father; of all the guides of living beings, there are none who are not born from these." This verifies the second point, the greatness of wisdom. Through these two points, it is the greatest among all scriptures. How could it be merely ten scriptures? It is simply that the author of the treatise spoke concisely of ten.
