- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [12.60](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1721.12.60)

> One sense is as stated above: because there is the utmost sincere mind and the non-utmost sincere mind, there is escaping and not escaping. Second, if escaping entails benefit, he then rescues them; if escaping entails no benefit, he therefore does not rescue them. Third, their karmic affinity formed with Avalokiteśvara has thicknesses and shallowness: for those whose affinity is shallow, their goodness is little, hence they do not escape; for those whose affinity is thick, their goodness is abundant, and therefore they obtain escape. Fourth, the karma of sentient beings is either determinate or indeterminate: indeterminate karma can be rescued, while determinate karma cannot be rescued. What is meant by "determinate": first, having committed it with a grave mind, the mind has no shame or remorse; second, concealing it; third, having committed it, committing it again; fourth, giving rise to vows to support it. Therefore they will definitely receive retribution and cannot be rescued.
