法華義疏 4.100

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [4.100](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1721.4.100)

如昔滅火、伏龍令外道心醉，今放光、現瑞使內侍發請，則其事也。故序品云「今相如本瑞，是諸佛方便」，今佛放光明助發實相義，即此文之意也。

> Just as in the past extinguishing fire and subduing the nāga caused the non-Buddhists to be intoxicated at heart, and now emitting light and manifesting portents caused the inner attendants to make their requests, these are cases of it. Hence the Introductory Chapter states: "The present sign is like the portents of old; it is an expedient means of the Buddhas." Now the Buddha emits bright light to assist in revealing the meaning of the true nature of phenomena; this is the intention of this text.
