The Expedient Means Chapter states that the Buddhas appear in evil worlds of the five corruptions and therefore expound the triyāna; since Śāriputra now appears in a pure land, why does he also expound the triyāna? Therefore it explains: although the time of that Buddha's appearance is not an evil world, because of his original vows he expounds the teaching of the triyāna.
