> In Sanskrit it is Vakkula; here it is translated as 'Good Appearance'. Saying 'Bojuluo' is corrupted. After Vipaśyin Buddha entered nirvāṇa, there was a monk who suffered greatly from headaches. Good Appearance was a poor man at the time, and he offered a single harītakī fruit to the sick monk; after the monk took it, his illness was cured at once. Because of offering medicine, for ninety-one kalpas he enjoyed blessings and happiness among gods and humans. In this life he was born into a Brahmin household; his mother died early, and then his stepmother used expedients to kill him, but he survived five attempts without dying. Later he sought to leave the household life and attained arhatship. Having been a monk for eighty years, he never once suffered a headache, his eyes never looked at a woman's face, nor did he enter a nunnery, nor did he preach a single phrase of the Dharma to a woman. Later King Aśoka toured the stūpas making offerings; knowing he had few desires, the king offered only a single coin, and the stūpa leaped up and dropped it to the ground, still refusing to accept it, whence it was known he had few desires. This background story is as told in the Transmission of the Dharmapiṭaka.
