> The Eulogy says: This compares superiority and inferiority. The essence of that Single Vehicle is conditioned wisdom and unconditioned cognition. The reason prajñā is excluded is that it is the most supreme. Although this sūtra is said to give birth to the Single Vehicle, its essential nature is broad and complete. Although the Single Vehicle of the Śrīmālā-sūtra comprehensively subsumes and enters it, it takes only unconditioned wisdom as the Single Vehicle; therefore, in that text, practicing the six pāramitās for kalpas numerous as the sands of the Gaṅgā is not as good as someone holding a scroll of the sūtra in hand, and it does not speak of excluding prajñā. Hence we know that this sūtra comprehensively takes principle and cognition to be the Single Vehicle, because the principle and cognition of the two vehicles converge into one. If it exclusively took true principle to be the Single Vehicle, identical to the Śrīmālā-sūtra, it should also compare them generally with all six perfections in terms of the general meaning of giving birth; why exclude wisdom? Vasubandhu's Commentary on the Vajracchedikā Prajñāpāramitā states: 'Number, power, and peerlessness are superior; the peerless cause is likewise so.' First is superiority of number. Second is superiority of power, because it surpasses in time. Third is superiority of peerlessness, because it surpasses metaphors. Fourth is superiority of cause, because it surpasses causes and fruitions. This text has two: reckoning by numbers and metaphors. Even the remaining two cannot equal it; hence it says 'and even'.
