> Third, discerning merit and wisdom, with two \[parts\]: first, determining the rationale for merit and wisdom regarding bestowing and relieving, with two \[subpoints\]: first, the question; second, the reply. Practicing merit and wisdom as causes, at the fruition one accomplishes the two virtues of wisdom and elimination; these virtues are non-dual in essence with sentient beings. Therefore, invoking the personal name of Avalokiteśvara's wisdom virtue can manifest and evoke the original nature's revealing cause seed; thus it can eliminate the suffering of dark delusion. If matching the responsive body of the Universal Gate's virtue of elimination, it can arouse the original nature's conditional cause seed; thus one obtains the joy of cause and fruition. Were it not so, how could it be called the interaction of stimulus and response?
