觀音玄義記 4.12

- **Language:** Classical Chinese

### [4.12](https://indike.org/pramana/in.bauddha.taisho.1727.4.12)

> Fourth, universality of severing delusion has two parts: first, explaining that severing through the two contemplations is not universal. The three vehicles of the Tripiṭaka and Shared teachings, as well as the dwellling and practice stages of the Separate teaching, are all subsumed under the two contemplations; the perfect cultivation of the ten dedications belongs to the subsequent contemplation of the middle. Second, from "If empty..." onward, explaining that only severing through the contemplation of the middle is universal. The initial mind of a person of the Perfect \[Teaching\] realizes that views and thoughts are themselves the middle path; directly shattering fundamental ignorance is called uprooting the root. Once the root is moved, the branches and leaves are destroyed first. Contemplating obstacles as virtues is called overturning the great earth. Once the middle path is contemplated, the two contemplations are spontaneously accomplished; with the perfect cultivation of the three contemplations, there is no delusion that is not shattered, and thus it can be called universal.
