> The commentary states: This is the fourth \[division\], the refutation. Therein are two parts: 'No' is the direct refutation; from 'Why is that?' onward is the second, explaining the refutation. The intent of the refutation is: If their thought supposes no attainment and no tolerance, then although they do not attain the existence of having attainment and having tolerance, they still attain the non-existence of having no attainment and no tolerance. Since they attain non-existence, their mind abides in non-existence. When the mind has an abiding, this is precisely having arising. Supposing that there is a mind arising in that which is attained also contradicts non-arising and non-attainment; therefore it is said that both are false and delusive.
