> Seventh, Dharma Master Wonhyo of the kingdom of Silla in the Eastern Sea during the Tang dynasty composed a commentary on this sūtra, and also established four teachings: 1. The distinct teaching of the three vehicles, referring to teachings such as the four noble truths and the Pratītyasamutpāda-sūtra. 2. The common teaching of the three vehicles, referring to sūtras such as the Prajñāpāramitā-sūtras and Sandhinirmocana-sūtra. 3. The partial teaching of the one vehicle, such as the Yingluo jing and Brahmajāla-sūtra. 4. The complete teaching of the one vehicle, referring to the Samantabhadra teaching of the Avataṃsaka Sūtra. The explanation of these four distinctions is as in his commentary.
