> Seventh, the treatises and commentaries: After Nāgārjuna brought forth the lower recension, he composed the Great Inconceivable Treatise, also in 100,000 verses, to explain this sūtra. The present Daśabhūmika-vibhāṣā is a portion thereof; Tripiṭaka Master Yaśas of the Qin dynasty recited and translated it, but its sixteen fascicles of text reach only as far as the second bhūmi, leaving the rest incomplete. Furthermore, Bodhisattva Vasubandhu composed the Daśabhūmika-śāstra, specifically explaining the single 'Ten Bhūmis' chapter; Tripiṭaka Master Ratnamati and Bodhiruci of the Wei dynasty each translated a recension in Luoyang. Vinaya Master Guangtong (Huiguang), understanding Sanskrit himself, had the two Tripiṭaka masters compare and combine them before the court into a single recension, which is the one currently transmitted. Bodhisattva Vajrasena and Bodhisattva Sthiramati each composed commentaries on the Daśabhūmika, neither of which has been transmitted to this land. In addition, the eminent monk Dharma Master Lingbian of this land during the Wei dynasty bore the Avataṃsaka on his head at Mount Wutai, walking on his knees with earnest devotion until his feet broke open and bled; after three years, receiving hidden inspiration, he attained awakening and composed a commentary on this sūtra in over one hundred fascicles in the Xuanyong Mountains, which is currently transmitted in the world. Later, by imperial decree, the Dharma Master was invited into the palace to lecture on this great sūtra in the Shiqian Hall.
