> Fourth, in the flaming bhūmi, there are also seven sections, the same as before. First, explaining the name: Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi, fascicle nine, states: "Dwelling securely in the supreme factors of bodhi, because the fuel of afflictions is burnt away and the flames of wisdom increase, it is called the Flaming Wisdom Bhūmi." The Mahāyānasaṃgraha says: "Because all the factors of bodhi burn away all obstacles." Apratiṣṭhita's commentary explains: "In this bhūmi there is flaming wisdom, hence it is called the Flaming Bhūmi." Vasubandhu's commentary explains: "Being able to burn all root afflictions and secondary afflictions into ashes, it is called the Flaming Wisdom Bhūmi." The Mahāyānasūtrālaṃkāra says: "Taking the wisdom of the factors of bodhi as the nature of flame, and taking the two obstacles of defilements and cognition as the nature of fuel: the bodhisattvas of this bhūmi can generate flaming wisdom to burn the fuel of the two obstacles; hence it is called the Flaming Wisdom Bhūmi." The Suvarṇaprabhāsa Sūtra says: "Able to burn afflictions, using the fire of wisdom to increase luminescence. Because it is the basis for practicing the factors of the Path, it is called the Flaming Bhūmi." The Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra, fascicle four, Yogācārabhūmi, fascicle seventy-eight, and Prakaraṇāryavācā are largely the same as this explanation. The Dà zhìdù lùn names it the Ground of Increasing Excellence. As the Daśabhūmika-vibhāṣā states: "Giving, morality, and extensive learning blaze with imposing virtue, hence it is called the Flaming Bhūmi."
