> Fourth, regarding what is realized: according to the Mahāyānasaṃgraha, one realizes the dharmadhātu of no distinction among diverse dharmas. Vasubandhu’s commentary explains: “It means that herein, although dharmas such as the sūtras have diverse differential establishments, they are without difference.” Asvabhāva’s commentary explains: “Just as the sūtras and so forth have distinctions among diverse dharmas, here it is not like that.” The Weishi lun says: “Tathatā of no distinction among dharmas refers to the fact that although this tathatā is established diversely across many taught dharmas, it is without difference.” The explanation says: it means that although this tathatā is designated in taught dharmas as dharmadhātu, the reality-limit (bhūta-koṭi), and so forth, establishing many names, its essence is without difference; therefore it is given this name. Another explanation: tracing from the root to the branches, tathatā pours forth diverse taught dharmas; tracing from the branches to the root, diverse taught dharmas all return to tathatā. This and the third bhūmi each realize one meaning. Another explanation: taught dharmas are established diversely according to capacities, yet they do not lose the single-flavor dharma of equality; this is what is realized here. The Madhyāntavibhāga-śāstra says: “The dharmadhātu realized in the seventh bhūmi is called the meaning of no distinction among diverse dharmas. By penetrating this, one knows that dharmas are markless and does not engage in the marks of diverse dharmas such as the sūtras.” The various versions of the Saṃgraha are identical.
